黑猫與白猫



鄧小平说:「不管是黑猫或白猫,會捉老鼠的就是好猫.」
現在放眼世界各国,貪污現象成風,很多政府高層知識份子,貪污犯罪.這些份子本來都是會捉老鼠的好猫,只是喜欢貪吃又乱拉屎,弄得臭氣沖天,領国誉受損.
一隻好猫不只會捉老鼠,又不会貪吃也不會随地拉屎,這才配稱為"好猫".

Did I ever tell you that the first time I heard this proverb was from my Hongky Boss when i was waitressing in a restaurant near my home in Clayton, Melbourne? He was one shrewd person, but I learnt a lot from him.

Well put. GREED is what drives the world, sad, but true. If only people pay a little bit more attention to their internal well being rather than external well being, this world will be a better place, afterall, you can't bring your external well being with you when you're gone, but the internal well being will remain in your soul when you face your maker.

If I remember correctly, I read about this black and white cat proverb in my standard 4 or 5 Chinese class. Of course, one of the first Chinese thing I learnt was "Lai phai chui, ti ti phai chui, mei mei phai chui, ta cia phai chui" or something like that....
